After a long hiatus, long enough for some of the original “Littles” to become tax-paying “Bigs”, Big Brothers Big Sisters is finally back in New Orleans. The beloved mentorship program has returned with fresh energy, ready to pair up local kids with adults who can offer guidance, encouragement, and the occasional emergency explanation of TikTok trends.
Organizers say the city is more than ready. “New Orleans knows about second lines, gumbo, and comebacks,” one volunteer said. “So of course, we’re ready for this comeback too.”
The program’s return means kids gain mentors who can cheer them on through school, life decisions, and figuring out whether jazz funerals really count as cardio. Meanwhile, adults get the joy of knowing they’ve made a difference, plus a crash course in modern slang.
In a city famous for resilience, Big Brothers Big Sisters is here to remind everyone: sometimes the best comeback is simply showing up for someone else.
