When a pod of dolphins found themselves stranded in the shallows of a coastal inlet this week, the local community did what any group of sensible, sea-loving humans would do: they dropped their groceries, rolled up their pant legs, and marched into the water like a small army of soggy superheroes. Armed with buckets, tarps, and an astonishing lack of hesitation, residents worked together to keep the dolphins wet, calm, and comforted until rescue teams arrived. One man even sang “Don’t Stop Believin’” to a dolphin who looked particularly stressed, proving once again that karaoke might be the world’s most underappreciated form of therapy. In the end, every dolphin was safely guided back to deeper waters, to thunderous cheers from the beach. The dolphins, of course, didn’t stick around for a thank-you, but locals insist they swam off with a little extra swagger, like celebrities exiting the red carpet.
